“What is Cloud Computing”

As the internet grows, companies found that new storage methods are in need. With projects growing bigger and bigger, it has become normal practice relying on storage through flash drives. Problems arise if one breaks, or if a document needs editing and needs sent via email. Although email is an excellent method of communication, it leads to a lag in the workplace when documents need sharing and consistently edited. The cry for a more efficient method of sharing caught attention, and the cloud was born.

Cloud computing is the practice of storing and accessing data on the internet rather than using a local or personal hard drive on a computer. It is an easier way of storing files onto a remote server that allows you to access it from any device with a unique login. The concept of cloud computing has been shown to originate as early as the 1960’s, but progress in this concept was not made until 2006. This is when Google began making progress towards developing what we now know today as “the cloud”.

The Cloud is made available to clients via 3 models: Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS).  Through the IaaS model, services provide clients with hardware components, such as servers, networks and storage. Organization often choose this model due to its ease of use and cost-efficiency. The PaaS model gives clients a platform for application development by providing them with hardware and software components via the internet. The PaaS model is convenient and simple since services provided users with all infrastructure and can access anywhere as long as they have the internet. Finally, the SaaS model is software hosted by a third party provided to clients through the internet. It is the most common of the three deployment models. 

The use of Cloud computing has become a huge part in the corporate world. Ever since cloud computing has emerged, many companies have been heavily dependent on it. For example, cloud computing is used in the corporate world for collaborations, data back-ups, and file storage. These uses allow companies to operate more efficiently and produce more in a timely manner. The use of cloud computing has improved collaborations in the corporate world. Cloud applications such as Google Docs, Google Slides, and Prezi allow groups of people to meet virtually and share information in real time. With this amazing capability, companies can increase product development and focus on providing exceptional customer service.

“Ethics Within a Business”

Ethics is defined as the moral principles that governs a person behavior. In fact, unethical behavior doesn’t only occur on a corporate level, it also occurs with sports teams, accounting departments, family-owned businesses, etc. The most common type of unethical behavior in companies is accounting fraud, referred to as “cooking the books”. Many major corporations have been caught doing accounting schemes. Privacy and abusing company resources are also common unethical behaviors that occurs in businesses.

            Accounting fraud or “cooking the books” is a major issue that is not tolerated in any workplace. An example of accounting fraud is the Enron scandal, which led to several people being devastated and losing a significant amount of money from lifetime savings. This scandal caused the company itself to lose about $80 billion and had to file for bankruptcy. In addition, many top-level executives had to serve time in prison. Enron was one of the largest audit companies in the world and could have been much more successful if they complied with the regulations in the workplace.

            Ethically behavior is not something that should only be followed in corporations, it should also be followed with sports teams. However, the New England Patriots seemed to think otherwise when they violated another teams’ privacy. The Patriots were caught spying on the New York Jets’ by videotaping the coach’s signals, which is a form a cheating and cheating is referred to as unethical behavior. They admitted to violating the NFL policy but denied cheating. Violating a person or companies’ policy is unethically behavior that should not occur no matter the situation.

            Abusing company resources is another unethically behavior that takes place in the workforce. For example, a person that is taking supplies or taking time from a company is considered stealing. Stealing is a major violation and is very unethical. Resources are allocated to the specifications of a company and should not be taking advantage of no matter the cause. Ethical behavior should always occur no matter what a person is doing, especially since it governs the behavior of someone.

            In conclusion, a person should always make sure that they are making decisions that are ethical. Everyone in the workforce should comply with all laws and regulations. Having ethical behavior in business makes a company more reputable and makes their employees more efficient. If everybody in the workforce focus on ethical behavior, the current ethical dilemmas will no longer be an issue.

“My Favorite Motorcycle Brand”

Harley-Davidson

Harley-Davidson competes in an industry that manufactures motorcycles, scooters, and parts. Specifically, Harley-Davidson sells motorcycles that are custom and unique for their customers. They also offer motorcycle training classes, parts and accessories, riding gear, and casual apparel. The organization is viewed to have a strong, profitable brand; however, they are expected to decline over the next five years due to economic conditions. Since Harley-Davidson offers expensive discretionary products, many people will not be able to purchase their product due to weak economic conditions. Honda is Harley-Davidson’s biggest competitor. Their competition is changing by focusing on fuel efficiency. Harley-Davidson gains a competitive advantage by offering better prices, higher quality, reliability, and modern product features.

The Harley-Davidson organization is targeting demographic customer segments. Customers that are age 45 or older consist of the largest market in the Motorcycle, Bike and Part industry accounting for almost half of the entire industry. Since Harley-Davidson is a lifestyle brand, they also focus on psychographic customer segments since they offer products that are based on the customer’s personality, attitude, and class. Based on their customer segments, Harley competes in geographic areas all across the United States. They compete in West coast, Southeast, Great Lakes, and Southwest regions. All geographic regions are based on favorable weather conditions. Harley focuses on having their businesses in warmer climate locations to sale their products year-round. In addition to the geographic areas in which Harley competes, they have supplies all around the world. They have dealers in the Philippines, Belgium, Italy, Turkey, and Norway. Harley has their brakes for the motorcycles imported from Italy, engine components are manufactured in Austria, suspension parts come from Japan, and most of the electrical components are imported from Mexico or China. The organization also has two assembly plants here in the United States, as well as facilities in Brazil and India. 

Regulatory challenges that Harley Davidson faces is pollution control, safety regulations, and fuel consumption. The government requires Harley Davidson to meet the Clean Air Act emission’s standards. In past years, Harley-Davidson was allegedly accused of selling more than 300,000 tuner devices that allowed customers to modify the engine functions. The engine modification caused motorcycles to pollute air at higher rates than normal. Thus, Harley is required to follow the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) regulations to prevent any future issues. They must also obtain a certification by the US Environmental Protection Agency to ensure that their bikes have proper emissions.

“My Favorite Foods”

            We all have foods that we just can’t resist. I love to travel and experience new food choices, but only four choices stand out to me the most. Those four choices are pizza, chicken wings, steaks, and burgers. I can go for any of those choices in any city that I’m in or at any restaurant that I go to.

Pizza

            Who doesn’t love the deliciousness of pizza? The great thing about pizza is that you can have any toppings of your choice! However, I keep my choice relatively simple with just pepperoni. A fresh, hot pepperoni pizza can brighten up my day and fill me up at the same time. My favorite place to get pizza is at a restaurant in Atlanta named “Antico”.

Chicken Wings

            Chicken wings is a must-have food for me. Any city that I visit has to have good chicken wings for me to be satisfied. My favorite flavored wings are lemon pepper with light sauce. I can never be dissatisfied with some delicious lemon pepper wings along with a side of French fries. A lot of restaurants make good wings, so it’s hard to me to just pick one place to be my favorite. However, American Deli, Georgia Wings & Fish, and A-Town wings are my top three places to get wings from.

Steak

            A well-cooked steak is a great meal as well as a good source of protein. My favorite types of steaks are sirloin, cubed, ribeye, and T-bone. Every time I order my steaks, I like to get them cooked well-done and have a side of A1 steak sauce. My favorite restaurants to eat steak is Longhorn, Outback Steakhouse, and Texas Roadhouse. I always have a good experience whenever I go to any of these restaurants. The customer service is always good, and the food is cooked just the way I like it.

Burgers

            A classic hamburger is a traditional food for the American culture. I like to eat my burgers with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and ketchup. In addition to pizza, burgers are the type of food that you can customize any way to make it delicious. You can add different topping and different sauces to make it taste just right. My favorite place to get burgers is at Red Robin and Applebee’s. Anytime I visit either Red Robin or Applebee’s, they cook the burgers to perfection.  

“Places to Travel”

I’ve traveled to a lot of places, but there are five places that I would love to visit. Those places are Paris, Hong Kong, Hawaii, Las Vegas, and Dubai. Each location is different, so my experiences will vary and make it much more interesting.

Paris

            Paris is a beautiful place and is at the top of the list of places that I want to visit. Paris is an iconic city around the world and is a common place where people go to vacation. The city is known for many famous things like the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame cathedral, and Arc de Triomphe. However, the list doesn’t stop there amongst the beautiful things that this city offers. When I visit Paris, I will be sure to take a lot of pictures in front of the Eiffel Tower.

Hong Kong

            Visiting Hong Kong has always been a goal of mine. I want to experience the culture and enjoy the delicious food that I hear so much about. They are known for having skylines and an amazing food variety. I want to learn so much about the Chinese culture as it is much different than the American culture. They have a population of around 8 million people, so I plan to meet a lot of people when I visit.

Hawaii

            From what I’ve heard, Hawaii is a place that is must visit for great vacation time. The Hawaiian Islands is an absolute beautiful sight to see. The canyons and waterfalls are said to be very colorful. I expect the weather to be breezy and overall amazing. When I visit Hawaii, I plan on participating in a variety of activities. I want to go snorkeling, surfing, scuba diving, fishing, camping, and hiking. Lastly, I will definitely enjoy the delicious food.

Las Vegas

            Las Vegas is a location that a lot of people have shared memories. It’s known as a big party city with bright lights and activities that will never run out. The atmosphere is said to be positive as everyone is enjoying themselves having a good time. The city hosts many casinos and some of the best entertainment.

Dubai

            Last but not least, I plan to visit Dubai. Overall, Dubai is a glamorous place to visit. Dubai is a very popular place to vacation for many great reasons. The city is famous for the sightseeing, aquariums, and malls.

“Ways to Help a Business Grow”

Social Media

            Social media is an effective and useful way to help a business grow. The common platforms that are used with businesses are Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Pinterest. In my opinion, Twitter is the platform where customers can engage the most with companies. Companies can read feedback about new products and determine if customers are willing to purchase the product or not. Without social media, it would be much more difficult to see what customers were saying about a product. Twitter allows users to promote research while reaching a large quantity of people. If someone tweets about the positives of a company and a lot of people read about it, that can help a business grow dramatically. The modern era focuses on trends and once something good goes viral, everyone wants to try it. For example, when Popeyes introduced their new chicken sandwich, social media went bizarre. Almost every social media platform was posting something about the chicken sandwich. The influence that social media had on Popeyes helped them increase sales and satisfy customers.

Facebook is a social platform that keeps customers up to date on the latest news for a company. Twitter can also keep customers up to date. In addition, Facebook is the best platform for being informed about upcoming events that may occur for a company. The utilization of Facebook is a great way to network and find new customers to help increase the growth of a company. YouTube is a great social media platform to post video advertisements for your company. The utilization of YouTube can increase social recognition and brand awareness. Customers are most likely to purchase a product if they know more about it, which is why YouTube is a great platform to inform customers on products. Lastly, Instagram and Pinterest are both useful social media platforms to promote new products. Instagram and Pinterest allow users to post photos and videos about topics. These platforms can help business promote their brand, while engaging with customers. The use of social media can help improve customers service skills, develop strategic partnerships, determine a target market, and research your competition. Almost every company has at least one social media platform because the platforms are very helpful. Just out of curiosity, I wonder how many companies would be successful without social media. How many people would even know about a company if social media wasn’t factored in?

Facebook

          Facebook is a great social media platform for start-up and established companies. For a start-up company, Facebook can help bring brand recognition to your business and can allow you to connect with people all across the world. If you have a new product that you developed or have a new service that you want to share to the world, Facebook is the way to go. More than a billion people use the platform; therefore, companies have a higher chance to promote their product or service when they use this social media platform. Other reasons to use Facebook for your company are convenient communication methods, easy to create an account, stay up-to-date, and build social skills. If someone is the owner of an established company, Facebook is a good way to keep up with or get an advantage over your competitors. In today’s society, it is vital that a company have some type of online presence to reach out to their target audience.

Instagram

         In my opinion, Instagram is a good platform for restaurants, clubs, salons, and artist. Instagram allows users to interact with their followers by sharing content like photos, videos, and thoughts. Once you make a post people can comment, like, and even share your content on other social media platforms. For example, a social media specialist at a restaurant can post menus, appetizing photos of food, and contact information to reach out to existing and potentially new customers. A club owner can also post flyers and photos of events. Instagram has a lot of features for effective promotion and interaction. In addition, the app is easy to use and allows users to link with other social media platforms.

Twitter

            Twitter is a useful social media platform to inform your audience on new information and keep them up to date. A lot of corporations use Twitter to share their product or service, interact with their customers, and tweet about trending topics related to their company. A key feature about Twitter is that a company can make multiple post daily without overwhelming their followers. If someone post too much within a day on Instagram, it will start to become a bit overwhelming. In addition, using hashtags are common for all social media platforms, however I feel that hashtags on Twitter are more powerful. Hashtags increase traffic to company’s pages, which improves brand recognition.

Vacation

“My Trip to The Bahamas”

When I was 12 years old, my family decided that we should take a vacation. As a kid, I really loved to travel so I was anxious to see where we would go. After several weeks of planning, my mother finally announced that we would go on a cruise to visit the Bahamas. I was extremely excited to travel there because I knew absolutely nothing about the Bahamas, so I was ready for a new experience. I wanted to get as much information as possible before the trip so I could be prepared for the different culture. As I researched the island, I noticed that a lot of people were saying great things based on their travel experience. Previous visitors stated that the food, people, sightseeing, relaxation, and events were all amazing. Those reviews made me even more anxious to visit.

The long wait was over once my family and I were heading to Florida to board the cruise ship. When we arrived at the destination, I noticed an enormous boat floating in the water. At that point, I couldn’t tell if I was still excited or a bit nervous since this would be my first time on a boat. The size of the boat was kind of intimidating to me, but I was able to feel more comfortable as we were boarding the boat. The staff was very welcoming, which is what calmed my nerves and allowed me to just relax.

During our stay on the cruise ship, we were able to attend several events. Those events consisted of ice sculpting contest, deck parties, karaoke, live music concerts, and so much more. The ice sculptures started with a big block of ice and had to create something out of it in a short period of time. They were very creative and managed to create animal designs out of the block of ice. I was enjoying myself so much that all the nerves I had at the beginning of the trip had gone away. The trip was going just as I had imagined, if not better. The cruise ship left Florida and took several days to arrive in the Bahamas. The boat ride was so smooth that I couldn’t even tell that we were moving. When we arrived in the Bahamas, I remember noticing how beautiful the island was and seeing how pure the water was. Even though it was extremely hot, I can honestly say that this was the best vacation I have ever experienced.

Music

“Passion for Music”

            At a young age, I developed a passion for music creation. When I was in elementary school, I joined the band and ever since then music has been a part of my life. I started out learning how to play woodwind instruments like the clarinet and saxophone. It took me about 2 years to learn how to play and read music. Once I got familiar with how to play woodwind instruments, I wanted to expand my skills and begin to start playing even more instruments. After persuading my teacher and family to allow me to switch instruments, they finally agreed on letting me learn how to play brass instruments. Over the course of my elementary band career, I was able to learn how to play the clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and baritone. However, for some reason, I felt that out of all instruments the trumpet was the best fit for me.

            As I transitioned from elementary to middle school, I continued to play the trumpet in the middle school band. Instead of trying to play both the woodwind and brass instruments, I narrowed down my focus on only developing my skills with the trumpet. I was taught by amazing teachers that were very knowledgeable and passionate about music. After playing the trumpet for about 4 years, I performed over ten concerts for the school. Some of those performances were for major holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. I began to gain attention from those performances, and I was selected to compete in several competitions along with a few members from my band.

            After middle school, I made a decision that I didn’t want to join the high school marching band. Instead I turned my focus to music production software and sports. I always loved sports just as much as I love music, so I found a way to do both at the same time. As I was playing sports, I would also cut grass in my neighborhood to save up enough money so I could buy a laptop. Once I finally saved enough money, I bought a laptop and speakers so I could continue to create music. I started using Reason and Fl Studio, which are music production software’s, to make music in a way I never thought of. The software’s were new to me because I was used to making music with real instruments but now, I had to use virtual instruments. Needless to say, I had to adapt to this change and practice until I got better.
