It is an easier way of storing files onto a remote server that allows you to access it from any device with a unique login. The concept of cloud computing has been shown to originate as early as the 1960’s, but progress in this concept was not made until 2006. This is when Google began making progress towards developing what we now know today as “the cloud”.
The Cloud is made available to clients via 3 models: Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS). Through the IaaS model, services provide clients with hardware components, such as servers, networks and storage. Organization often choose this model due to its ease of use and cost-efficiency. The PaaS model gives clients a platform for application development by providing them with hardware and software components via the internet. The PaaS model is convenient and simple since services provided users with all infrastructure and can access anywhere as long as they have the internet. Finally, the SaaS model is software hosted by a third party provided to clients through the internet. It is the most common of the three deployment models.
